A subdomain is a web address, which is under a main, or a root domain name. An example is something.domain.com, where domain.com is the main domain, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own site and records i.e. apart from employing the domain name as a part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be entirely independent and even hosted by a separate provider. Using a subdomain can be very beneficial if you wish to have different websites which are associated in some way. For instance, you could have a web-based store under the main domain and a forum under a subdomain so as to offer means for your clients to ask questions or share experiences about your products. The best thing about using a subdomain as opposed to a subfolder is that the sites are going to be separated, so you can update one of them or perform maintenance not affecting the other.

Subdomains in Cloud Hosting

Each cloud hosting package we supply will allow you to create many subdomains with no more than a couple of clicks inside your web hosting CP. They are going to be listed in the area where you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, so you can effortlessly monitor all of them. Additionally, you can access lots of functions for any of the subdomains through right-click context menus - for example, you can view or change their DNS records, access the site files, and a lot more. While creating a new subdomain, you are also going to have many options that you can pick from - define the default access folder, create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or pick if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. What number of subdomains you are going to have is entirely up to you because we have not restricted this feature for any of our packages.
